The account was re-aged, and just about EVERYTHING is incorrect. The account was discharged in 1996, below is the screenshot of the Experian reporting on 1/12/03. This extremely derogatory account was also reported in the GOOD accounts section of the Experian report! Providian reports INCORRECT dates for "Reported since" and "Date of Statues", INCORRECT "Recent Balance: $19,558 as of 7/2002" and "$4,959 past due as of 7-2002" and instead of being deleted in 2003, it was re-aged to be reported until 7/2009" There is no better way to destroy someone's credit than what Providian did. Please note that as of 8/03 Experian NO LONGER reports how the accounts are aged off the reports. They always used to provide the "This account is scheduled to continue on record until ..." notation and apparently that made it too easy for consumers to sue for re-aging of accounts. Looking at THIS account, it appears that Experian uses the date of STATUS to age accounts off the report. |
